Located outside of Boston, Camulus Academy is a former collegiate school that was transformed into an academy in 2012, with its first class debuting in 2015-2016 tournament. It houses and extensively trains the international champions for the Tournament. Although it is essentially a school steeped in fighting traditions and more martial pursuits, Camulus strives to give students a real college experience by giving them an atmosphere that mimics it all while giving them proper battle and survival training.

Education at Camulus Academy is a bit different than mainstream colleges. Students at Camulus, after four years, achieve a Specialized Battler's degree (henceforth known as an SB). It is an associate-level degree; however, due to hardship, battle training, and credit exemption, it is a specialized form of a bachelor's degree. Due to high levels of training, most students elect to complete their courses during the first three years of their education, with only a credit or two to complete in fourth year. It is known that although an SB is equated in some form to a Bachelor's, it's difficult to use unless you win or do extremely well in the Tournament. However, with the advent of special tutors (for those more academically-inclined) and other special opportunities that exist for Champions outside the realm of academia, the positives often outweigh the negatives.

The battle classes at Camulus effectively take the place of the missing sixty credits to form the Specialized Battler's degree. The same rules to get a full bachelor's degree. An example schedule can be found here.

Students at Camulus Academy are required to take:
Two (2) Communications courses.
One (1) Oral Communications course.
Two (2) Humanities courses — one from Group A and Group B.

Two (2) Natural Science courses — one from Group A and Group B.
Two (2) Mathematics courses.

head mentors
Head Mentors are able to fill in gaps in the schedule depending on their expertise, although they do tend to specialize in two or more sections of the curriculum. They also teach advanced and highly specialized classes — think of them as graduate-level seminar type classes — that they offer each semester. It is up to the discretion of each Head Mentor to create and offer up to three (3) specialized classes for juniors and seniors.
*NOTE: Advanced Classes only available to juniors and seniors.

I realize this is probably a ridiculous question, but are these 12 courses supposed to be spread out over 2 semesters (since they need to take both communications classes but one is a prerequisite for the other)?

The 12 courses should be spread over the four years, as it's only an associate's degree, technically. Because there will also be battle-specific classes that will be posted when we have more mentors/closer to game start, the idea is that most students should concentrate the bulk of their study in the first three years, ensuring their fourth year is clear for training.

I'm a little confused about this. "One (8) General Electives." So how many electives is that?

Hi! Not a mod, but I spent a lot of time talking to Luis re: schedules, and it's 8 general electives total to make 20 classes; I think that's just an error. There's also 40 classes total with the battle classes, for what it's worth, so 5 classes per semester for two-semester years or 4/4/2 for three-semester years. Just to let you know!

I have a question about scheduling -- on the example schedule, the terms are divided into Spring/Summer/Fall, but the battle classes are listed as Summer/Winter, with the example having some Winter courses taken during the summer, and Summer classes taken outside of summer; how do we figure out which battle classes go where/when for our own schedules? Thanks!
